Once in the West Indies, they were confronted with the harsh reality of labor-intensive plantation work. They toiled under scorching suns and faced gruelling tasks, such as harvesting sugarcane and tending to crops. Often subjected to abusive treatment and discriminatory practices, they were denied basic rights and faced exploitation. Despite these adversities, Indian women displayed incredible strength and fortitude, carving out a place in a foreign land and laying the foundation for their descendants' future.
